According to news reports, Black Lives Matter St. Paul said its demonstration at the Cathedral of St. Paul in St. Paul Feb. 27 will go on as planned.
The group announced earlier in February that it would hold a “nonviolent shutdown action” of the Red Bull Crashed Ice World Championship scheduled in front of the Cathedral unless St. Paul police Sgt. Jeffrey Rothecker is fired for comments he made on social media. Rothecker resigned Feb. 17. He had been on paid administrative leave.
St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman said in a statement that the Red Bull Crashed Ice event will go on as planned. It typically draws 100,000 people.
