Deacon William Berghoff died Aug. 11 at age 88.
He was ordained a permanent deacon in 1986 and retired in 2005, serving his entire ministry at St. Richard in Richfield.
A 1950 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Berghoff worked with Traveler’s Insurance Company in Connecticut and Minnesota. He retired at age 58 and then pursued ministry. He was known for his love of the outdoors and devotion to his family.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; three children; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at St. Edward in Bloomington 4-6 p.m. Aug. 20 and one hour prior to the funeral Mass Aug. 21. A funeral Mass will be offered 11 a.m. Aug. 21 at St. Edward with internment at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis.
