Deacon Woznick served parishes in Minnesota and Hawaii

Deacon Gregory Woznick, who served parishes in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, the Diocese of Duluth and in Hawaii, died Sept. 6 at age 91 in Grant.

Born to Ukranian immigrant parents in Wilton, North Dakota, where his father worked as a coal miner, Deacon Woznick was a state champion basketball coach in his home state. He was a school principal and superintendent of a large school district in California. He also started his own business as a personal and professional development trainer and later was vice president of Success Motivation Institute in Texas.

He was ordained in the Diocese of Duluth in 1990 and in the late 1990s and early 2000s served at St. Odilia in Shoreview and St. Henry in Monticello before moving to Maui, Hawaii, and serving there.

His wife, Mereece, preceded him in death. They are survived by four children and 38 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
