The parishes of Holy Rosary and St. Stephen, located about two miles apart in south Minneapolis, merged effective July 1. Sharing financial, formation and evangelization resources will help bring more people to Christ, said Archbishop Bernard Hebda of St. Paul and Minneapolis in a statement announcing the merger.
Those are: St. Mary of the Purification in Marystown with St. Mary and St. Mark in Shakopee; St. John the Evangelist and St. Joseph in Hopkins; and Holy Cross, St. Anthony of Padua, St. Clement and St. Hedwig in northeast Minneapolis.
While some 50 people protested the merger of northeast Minneapolis parishes Aug. 6 at the Cathedral of St. Paul and the archdiocesan chancery across St. Paul’s Summit Avenue, the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis responded by attempting to straighten out the facts and alleviate parishioners’ fears.
