Totino-Grace returns to gridiron glory in Class 6A Prep Bowl victory

Capitalizing on miscues, Totino-Grace beat Eden Prairie 28-20 in the Prep Bowl for the Class 6A state high school football title Nov. 25.

Totino-Grace (13-0), based in Fridley, scored twice in the fourth quarter off of Eden Prairie (11-2) fumbles to secure the school’s first 6A title at US Bank Stadium. Senior running back Gayflor Flomo powered Totino-Grace with two rushing touchdowns and 69 yards. Fellow senior back Ivan Burlak ran for 161 yards and a TD.

A long-time Minnesota high school football power, Totino-Grace had won state nine state titles previously but all in smaller classes. The last title occurred in 2012 as 5A champions. The Fridley school moved up to 6A in 2013 and reached the Prep Bowl in 2014 but lost to Eden Prairie 28-27.

Eden Prairie has 10 state titles and hasn’t lost to any other team beside Totino-Grace since 2013. Totino-Grace has won its last three contests with Eden Prairie.
