Christian Brother Dominic Ehrmantraut celebrates jubilee

De La Salle Christian Brother Dominic  Ehrmantraut, a former principal of the now-closed Archbishop Brady High School in West St. Paul, will celebrate his 50th jubilee as part of the school’s all-school reunion June 29 at Cretin-Derham Hall in St. Paul.

Brother Dominic was born in Kansas City, Mo. and raised in the Twin Cities.

He is a graduate of Cretin High School and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Education and English from St. Mary’s University.

He earned two additional degrees, which included a Master of Arts degree in Theology from the University of Notre Dame and an E.D.S. degree from St. Thomas University.

After leaving the Twin Cities, he served as the Provincial of the then, St. Paul and Minneapolis Province of the Christian Brothers, then moving to the Region, which included the United States and Canada and mission responsibilities in the Holy Land and Africa.

BSM president steps down

Benilde-St. Margaret’s School in St. Louis Park has announced that Bob Tift will step down from his position as president of the school. Tift, a 1971 BSM graduate, has held the post since 1971.

“This is the right time for transition,” said Tift. “The BSM community is in an excellent position and has an outstanding reputation. We are recognized for our rigorous academics, rich faith development, exceptional commitment to service, and successful extracurricular activities. Our strategic plan has laid a firm foundation for our next leader.”

School Sister of St. Francis celebrates 80th jubilee

Sister Mary Angela Saeman celebrated 80 years as a School Sister of St. Francis June 15.

Sister Mary Angela was born in Cross Plains, Wis. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Alverno College in 1944 and a master’s degree from Fordham University in 1950.

In the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, Sister Mary Angela volunteered in pastoral care from 1995 to 1997 and in coordinating Eucharist for the homebound at St. Mary of the Lake in White Bear Lake from 1997 to 2003.

She currently serves as a volunteer in the School Sisters of St. Francis Archives in Milwaukee.
