The Church of St. Joseph, West St. Paul, recently honored those currently serving in the military and veterans during a Mass and reception held on October 23. Attending were parishioners who currently serve in the Army, Air Force and Navy Reserve along with veterans from World War II through the current era.
This year the special guest for the event was General Robert H. Reed, USAF (ret.). General Reed is retired in South Carolina. His last assignments with the Air Force included serving as the assistant deputy chief of staff and also as the commander of S.H.A.P.E. (Strategic Headquarters Allied Powers Europe). Some cadets from the St Thomas Academy and Cretin-Derham Hall assisted as ushers, altar servers and lector. St Joseph’s Pastoral Care office provided a reception and arranged from a representative of the Veterans Administration to offer information.
