Two juniors from St. Thomas Academy in Mendota Heights recorded perfect scores of 36 in the ACT college entrance exam.

Walker Lee and Connor Plunkett were among 781 students nationwide who achieved the perfect ACT score, which amounted to one-tenth of 1 percent of those taking the test, according to Jon Whitmore, CEO of ACT. More than 1.7 million students took the test last year.

The ACT, which is taken by nearly 60 percent of America’s college-bound students, is comprised of tests in English, mathematics, reading and science reasoning. Each test is scored on a scale of 1 to 36, and a student’s score is the average of the four tests.
