On our last day in Rome, our group of 25 young adults were reminded of the journey Christians have taken through history, dating back to the day Jesus died on the Cross.
We were blessed to attend the weekly general audience with Pope Francis while on our ad limina pilgrimage with the bishop of Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota, and at the end of the audience we were able to take a picture with him.
Mychael Schilmoeller and her unborn child received a special blessing from Pope Francis Jan. 15 as she traveled with 24 other young adults accompanying Archbishop Bernard Hebda and Auxiliary Bishop Andrew Cozzens on their “ad limina apostolorum” in Rome.

Actually, as I write this, it is evening here in Rome, but time has been a funny barrier for us pilgrims today, so I will stick with Minnesota time.
Following Sunday Mass at the Pontifical North American College (celebrated by alumnus Archbishop Hebda and assisted by seminarians from our archdiocese), we met art historian Elizabeth Lev for a tour of pre-Christian Rome, beginning at the iconic Colosseum.
The blessings of this pilgrimage start to unfold ...

Young adults traveling to Rome with Archbishop Bernard Hebda and Auxiliary Bishop Andrew Cozzens will share their trip with others even as they experience it.
That’s the plan for a regular blog posting on The Catholic Spirit website as 25 men and women ages 21 to 35 accompany the bishops Jan. 9-18 for the bishops’ Jan. 13 visit with Pope Francis.
