Cancel Mass?

“Never!” was the reply from New Brighton.

“No. Absolutely not!” came the response from St. Paul Park.

But both in the Twin Cities and in the outlying counties of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis dozens of parishes were forced to cancel weekend liturgies by the blizzard of Dec. 10 that downed the roof of the MetroDome.

The blizzard of Dec. 11 made for an interesting weekend for the priest who pastors the two parishes in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis that are the furthest southwest of the Twin Cities.

A quarter-inch of freezing rain followed by the snow caused Father Dennis Backer to cancel Saturday evening Mass at Nativity in Cleveland.
