‘Free Gena,’ plead colleagues of kidnapped Irish missionary in Haiti

Staff of a charity serving Haiti are pleading for the return of a kidnapped Irish lay missionary and her companions -- including a 3-year-old child -- taken by armed gunmen who stormed an orphanage in Port-au-Prince, amid the Caribbean nation's long-running armed gang violence and political instability.

Woman calls childhood in Mexico a blessing, thanks to NPH

The idea was to provide a stable home for orphans and children whose families didn’t have the money to care for them. Grove, who later married an American and became a U.S. citizen, lived in an NPH home just north of Mexico City in Acolman for seven years with several hundred other children.

NPH celebrates 60 years of ‘raising children, transforming lives’

Locally, NPH will host its annual gala Oct. 3, when 15 children from NPH’s home in El Salvador will sing and dance, and then spend two weeks with a host family.
