Archdiocese names 2012 Champions for Life winners

The annual Champions for Life Award winners will be honored at a luncheon Oct. 18 at St. Peter in Mendota. The awards, given by the Archdiocesan Office of Marriage, Family and Life, recognize the pro-life activities and achievements of Catholics in the archdiocese. Winners were named in five categories this year.

Annual lunch to honor those who work to support life issues set for Oct. 6

The fourth annual Champions for Life awards will be presented by Archbishop John Nienstedt Oct. 6, during a lunch at St. Peter Catholic Church in Mendota.

Champions for Life to receive awards at upcoming banquet

Archbishop John Nienstedt will present the Champions for Life awards during a lunch that begins at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, at the University Club in St. Paul. Father Andrew Cozzens of the St. Paul Seminary School of Div­in­ity will give a keynote address.

She loves to make them smile

Of all the kids she encounters at Burnsville High School, Patti Durham has gotten to know some special ones. During the past five years, she’s spent her study hall time at school working with severely handicapped peers, who, she said, have shown her more about what it means to be pro-life.
