Deacon Carlson

Deacon Paul Carl­son, 94, was part of the first group of perm­anent deacons to be ordained for the Arch­dio­cese of St. Paul and Minnea­polis in 1976. He died April 20.

A catechist at the Paulist information center, Deacon Carlson taught Scripture for the diaconate formation program and in parishes and was a member of the archdiocesan Mar­riage Tribunal. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Lawrence Newman Center Parish April 26, with burial in Gethsemane Cemetery.

    Fr John J. Behnke. C.S.P., who asked him write brief answers to
    questions University students often encountered as Catholics from those
    who wish to challenge their belief. While the pamphlets are
    free, and still availed on racks at St Lawrence Catholic Church / Newman
    Center Deacon Paul want to see as many people as possible have access
    to his work which is reason for internet serialization.At couple
    of weeks before Deacon Paul’s death, he said: “If there are any
    financial gains made from the blog serialization of my pamphlets, please
    have the money given to St. Lawrence Parish and Newman Center or
    Paulist Fathers, because what they do is so important.” If you can, send
