Send yourself to Spain in virtual World Youth Day

| July 20, 2011 | 3 Comments

Can’t make it to Madrid for the Aug. 16-21 World Youth Day? Send an avatar of yourself to the Spanish capital instead.

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has created a Facebook application, fan page and website where people can create avatars, or digital representations of themselves, to participate in a virtual pilgrimage.

On the Facebook fan page, visitors can view live video feed from Madrid, follow key Twitter feeds and blogs, and upload photos and videos. USCCB staff, young adults and young adult leaders attending World Youth Day will post additional content.

The website is at http://www.virtualworldyouthday.org, and the Facebook fan page is at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Virtual-World-YouthDay/155152027881863.

For more information, send an email to Catherine Panzica at cpanzica@usccb.org.
