The Benedictine Sisters of St. Paul’s Monastery in Maplewood announced May 12 that they have elected Sister Paula Hagen to be the 11th prioress of the monastery.

She will be installed during a Mass on Pentecost Sunday, June 8.

Sister Paula is known nationally for her retreat ministry with women and families. During her more than 50 years as a Benedictine sister, she has set up occupational therapy departments in various nursing homes, including St. Therese in New Hope.

She also has worked as a family therapist for Catholic Charities and family ministry consultant to parishes around the country. She co-founded Ministry of Mothers Sharing and served as its national director.

The Sisters of St. Benedict invite the public to join them in a celebration of service from 2 to 4 p.m. on June 22.

St. Paul’s Monastery was founded from St. Benedict’s Monastery in St. Joseph, on June 22, 1948, to serve God’s people in the area.

During the celebration, people are invited to work with the sisters on projects ranging from writing cards to members of the Armed Forces to planting a butterfly garden. RSVP by calling (651) 777-8181 by June 13.
