The event was part of the school's Women's Day, which focused on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields and careers. Alumni of the school who work in these fields came to the school to talk with students. Also appearing was Belinda Jensen, chief meteorologist for KARE 11 TV. The engineering challenge was the last event of the day. Wyatt helped test each of the individual structures, along with senior Kathleen Egan, second from left, and teachers Jeanne Doyle and Margie Kline. Students were asked to use uncooked spaghetti noodles to build structures that were able to support a set of balls ranging in size from a golf ball to a basketball. The higher their structures were, the more points they received, provided their structures still were able to support the balls.
