40 Days for Life set to begin again at St. Paul hospital

An opening prayer vigil for the next 40 Days for Life campaign is set for 3 p.m. March 9 (Ash Wednesday) at HealthPartners’ Regions Hospital, 640 Jackson St. in St. Paul.

In 2009, Regions Hospital performed more than 700 abortions, according to Pro-Life Action Ministries.

40 Days for Life is an international campaign involving 40 days of prayer, fasting and peaceful activism for an end to abortion.

The local effort, the fifth coordinated by Pro-Life Action Ministries, will end Saturday, April 16 at 10 a.m. in order to accommodate Palm Sunday church activities.

The campaign has a goal of filling every hour with two or more participants in prayer and peaceful vigil outside the hospital.

At the Oct. 31 conclusion of last fall’s 40 Days for Life campaign, Archbishop John Nienstedt delivered remarks at the closing prayer session at Regions Hospital in front of an estimated crowd of 500 people.
