At its Opening Leadership Meeting on Aug. 8, the chair of the Archdiocesan Catholic Schools Advisory Council announced that Jill Reilly will continue to serve as interim superintendent of Catholic schools through fall 2014. The previous superintendent, Marty Frauenheim, retired last year.

The announcement was made right before Archbishop John Nienstedt gave a keynote address to pastors, school presidents and principals gathered for the meeting at St. Peter in Mendota.

“We must labor together, in communio, to sustain Catholic education in this local Church,” the archbishop said. “We must think and act creatively, often going outside our comfort zones to engage new possibilities for growth. Only in looking beyond our particular situations and thinking strategically, with an eye on the good of the whole archdiocese, can we proactively address the real needs of Catholic education in this local Church.”

The meeting included updates on the Aim Higher Foundation and the ACSAC as well as a presentation on “enhancing and validating academic excellence.”
