Father Kevin Magnerbegan serving Jan. 9 at St. Stephen in Anoka. Most recently, he served at Immaculate Conception in Lonsdale. Since he was ordained in 2003, Father Magner also has served at Our Lady of Grace in Edina, St. Charles Borromeo in St. Anthony, St. John the Evangelist in Hopkins and St. Anne in Hamel.

Father John Meyer was named pastor of St. Timothy in Maple Lake, effective Feb. 21. He has been serving at the Cathedral of St. Paul and the Hmong community at the St. Vincent de Paul campus. Father Meyer was ordained in 2008 and has also served at St. Charles Borromeo in St. Anthony.

Deacon Larry Lawinger was appointed Jan. 20 as deacon representative for a three-year term on the Comprehensive Assignment Board. Deacon Lawinger, who was ordained in 2010, serves as deacon at Good Shepherd in Golden Valley.

Deacon Russell Kocemba was named permanent deacon to Nativity of Our Lord in St. Paul, effective Feb. 6. After his 2004 ordination, he was appointed deacon at Our Lady of the Lake in Mound.

Deacon Mickey Friesen, who is director of the archdiocesan Center for Mission, was named deacon at St. Thomas Becket in Eagan on Feb. 13. He most recently served at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini in Minneapolis. Deacon Friesen, who was ordained in 1997, has also served as deacon at St. John Neumann in Eagan.

Deacon Michael Martin was appointed to Blessed Virgin Mary in Maplewood, effective Feb. 13. He had been serving at St. Gregory in North Branch, where he was assigned after his 2008 ordination.
